THE HI-WAY DRIVE-IN THEATRE opened during the early years
of America's postwar Drive-in boom, in April of 1951, and has been
in continuous operation each season for more than half a century.

Always known as the Hi-way Drive-in, the outdoor cinema originally
consisted of a solo screen, with the movies' soundtrack provided by
car window speakers attached to poles at each parking space. In 1976,
radio sound was introduced with a local broadcast on 530 AM frequency.

and entrance road on the right; concession building and
projection booth at center; and ticketbooth at top, center.

Ultimately, the traditional car window speakers and the
AM radio broadcast were replaced by FM broadcasting
for enhanced audio, which can be tuned-on a car radio.

During the Drive-in's 48th season, construction was
begun on a 2nd outdoor movie screen, which went
into use on June 25th, 1999. Both screens are lit
with a double feature each night, and a separate
radio signal is dedicated for each screen - 98.9 FM
for the movies on Screen One; 99.9 FM for Screen Two.

We are currently in the process of adding a 3rd screen
to provide an even greater variety of movies for those
who enjoy cinema al fresco under a canopy of stars.

The Hi-way Drive-in Theatre season runs from April thru
October, on weekends in spring & fall, 7 nites in summer.
Season 2003 marks Hi-way Drive-in's 52nd year in operation.

The Hi-way Drive-in is a true classic
outdoor cinema ..   little has changed
here since the 1950's heyday of the
American Drive-in theatre, although
audio is now broadcast to your radio.
YOU MUST HAVE AN FM RADIO IN YOUR CAR - OR BRING A
PORTABLE FM RADIO -   IN ORDER TO HEAR THE MOVIES!
